Start as you mean to go on

Begin your day with a glass of warm water mixed with the juice of half a freshly squeeze lime – this helps to cleanse your body and prepare it for detox.  For the perfect one day detox, nutritionists recommend that you should choose a fruit and vegetable combination – yummy options include carrots and apples or grapefruit and cucumber, but you can choose anything you like.

You can drink 3 cups of fresh juice a day, made from your fruit and vegetable combination, and these replace your main meals.  To avoid raised blood sugar, you can dilute your juices with spring water.  If you get really hungry, it’s ok to snack on small portions of the fruit and vegetables you’ve chosen for juicing – but try to stick to just the juice if you can!

Things to avoid

It might sound like common sense, but you should avoid caffeine, smoking, stress, chocolate, sugar and dairy products during your one day detox – as any nutritionist will tell you, it’s best to detox on a weekend, when you won’t be distracted by work.

Relax and unwind

Plan a relaxing evening – it’s up to you whether that involves some (gentle) exercise, a long bubble bath or simply reading your favorite book.  Don’t be tempted to snack on unhealthy options – reach for your fruit and vegetables if temptation strikes.
